Ultimate Fitness | Metrowalk

Photobucket

Worked out at the no-nonsense, results driven gym aptly called Ultimate Fitness in Metrowalk earlier today. At first glance alone, you know they mean business from the Fairtex bags, sets of RIP:60s (Suspended Rotation Training Equipment), kettlebells, freemotion dual cable machine, dumbbells, and the accomplished trainers. “Leave your ego outside” as their ethos states, helps one focus and is, fair warning to pace one’s self and not to let overconfidence make you eat humble pie.

Their version of “Caveman Training” called Fight Form was what I did, combination of burpees, alternating rope swings, squat presses, and a lot more than I bargained for. Still, the comfort of knowing that you’re burning 500+ calories of last night’s binge while gaining practical “real world” strength makes it all worth it.
Photobucket
Whether you’re into mixed martial arts, or looking to just surprise your body as well as augment your training with a variety of HIIT (high intensity, interval training) programs, this is the place to go to if you want to torch away the fat from leftover from Christmas and New Year’s.

Childhaus | Oppa! You know what comes next!

Last month, through the pooled efforts of Karylle, Zsa Zsa, Iza Calzado, Divine Lee, Yael Yuzon, the Philippine All Stars, and numerous Childhaus volunteers we managed to gather a sizeable number of people to initiate a flashmob right in the middle of Bonifacio High Street. TDK of course played a huge part, considering they provided the soundsystem needed to turn the place into a veritable frenzy of people dancing to the horse-galloping style craze. The Childhaus kids really loved it, and were eager to show their mettle on the impromptu dance floor. Crowd also went wild when the Philippine All Stars busted out their award winning moves and revealed Sam Concepcion with his stylised version of the billion viewed hit’s dance.

Hopefully with this video we can show that even if these kids battling with cancer they can still manage to take it day by day, appreciating moments like these and keep positive outlooks despite their situations. I mean, look how at how wide their smiles were on the video! I also wish that this video will bring more supporters and sponsors for Childhaus, that way we can keep having more activities and help uplift the little angels’ lives.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

Thank you to: Ben Dayrit who choreographed well over 650 students! Roden Araneta and dance crew for making the whole rehearsal fun! Wyanet and Adrian of Mary Grace, Time Zone, the fine people over at TDK, Fridays group, Lorenzo’s way and many more!

TWG Tea Company | A Visit

Photobucket
Singaporean Tea Company TWG recently opened their first Tea Salon in the country, drawing a number of people to grace the event. Those in attendance, including myself were educated on how many teas the company has and which goes well with which macaroon, time of day, and personal preference.
Photobucket
Delicious! Best enjoyed with… friends of course. Which tea though would have to be dependent on your palate.
Photobucket
The 1837 in the TWG logo signifies the year in which the Singapore Chamber of Commerce was created, a credit to trade and industry. The lady assisting me had a slightly different take on the story, but overall same gist. Hers was more to the tune of the opening of trade ports that year.
Photobucket
I’m a little teapot…
Photobucket
The labels alone on the tins were enticing enough to pick one up, open and grab a whiff of the tea. Then, an inquisitive look with matching “hmmmm” would do to complete the tea connoisseur act. My favorites would have to be their Gentleman’s Earl Grey, which is a black tea with some bergamot to give a citrusy, refreshing shine to it. (as is usual with Earl Grey teas) I also like their Silver Moon tea, which is a green tea with vanilla and fruity notes which supposedly go very well with mooncake. I should give that a try sometime!
Photobucket
All 800 of them, they mean it when they mean the finest teas! The interiors of the place really make you want to stay what with all the wood paneling and brass fitting and details.
Photobucket
Unfortunately, the violinist wasn’t to keen on taking requests.

When you’re in the Greenbelt area, drop by their shop for your share of tea and crumpets. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner specialties which boast the use of fine and noble ingredients. It’s a good spot to relax, and converse in a more old fashioned, personal way. It’s been pretty full lately though, so here’s a tip, try to arrive a little earlier than you intend to take your tea so by the time you’ve browsed through their selection your table will be ready.

TWG Tea Salon and Boutique Level 1, Greenbelt 5

Hours: 11:00am to 9:00pm. (Monday thru Thursday); 11:00am to 10:00pm. (Friday to Saturday); and 10:00am to 9:00pm (Sunday)

Beach on Christmas

I must have skipped three trips out this year due to work, which is a pretty good situation in my opinion. Still, flying out or even just a drive for a change of scenery has always been a personal favorite of mine, and sometimes when I get bouts of spontaneity I just book and “bahala na si batman” it.  Just nearby countries/places (Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong) or islands (Boracay, Palawan, etc.) naman, nothing that drastic or deadly to the pocketbook. Most of the best trips I’ve had were the ones I planned the night before, and though a little pricier than if I planned months ahead they have proved to be the most fulfilling. It’s one thing to get away from it all, and one thing to do so ever so conveniently. That’s why this Christmas, I planned a trip out to Balesin Island! Can you believe you can reach the island in less than an hour? This includes the trip to the airport/hangar, and flight combined! It’s probably the most convenient and hassle-free flight to an island location.

Photobucket

Skies were gloomy over the tarmac, which had me worries for a bit.

Photobucket

Nothing like gazing at clouds to relax and contemplate.

Photobucket

I enjoy everything about flights, the airplane taxiing, takeoff, turbulence (slight), landing, and just the overall timeout which lets you listen to a music album all the way through or finish reading that novel you’ve been using as a cellphone caddy.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Rainbow over the island, befitting of the tropical paradise.

Photobucket

Landed after only 25 minutes of flight!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Arrived in the morning so attacking the scrumptious breakfast buffet at the Balesin Clubhouse was definitely on the itinerary.

Photobucket

For lunch it was at Sakura, the delicious japanese restaurant also at the Clubhouse. They have teppanyaki tables so perfect for big groups!

Photobucket

“Popped” rice. Actually edible, save for the stalks.

Photobucket

Considering our heavy lunch, opted for a light dinner at Bali overlooking a clouded sunset.

Photobucket

By far the most relaxed Christmas day I’ve had, slower paced yet a good recharge from the season’s rush of parties and shopping for gifts. I’ll post more of this trip soon, stay tuned.
