Kermit Tesoro | Philippine Fashion Week ’12

What an amazing show! At first I was surprised that Kermit Tesoro was in the same roster as Albert Andrada, Ezra Santos, Bandoix Flores, and Butz Fuentes (all very renowned Filipino designers from Dubai) after all, he was the youngest of the lot.  But once showtime came, my worry quickly disappeared.  Clearly Kermit Tesoro was ready to compete at this level.  He is definitely one of those designers that really push the envelope in terms of creating new methods and challenging preconceptions of what is doable and possible (and acceptable).  His experimental flair and almost obsessive eye for detail has led to a cult following.  Amongst his loyal clientele, is none other than Lady Gaga (and Divine Lee) the former of which wore one of his new chest pieces in Bangkok, Thailand.

Congratulations on great show Kermit, I’m sure many were inspired by your creations.

Job well done!

The Clash in the studio | Stay Free

An’ I’ll never forget the smile on my face

‘cos I knew where you would be

An’ if you’re in the crown tonight

Have a drink on me

But go easy…step lightly…stay free

The Clash were an English punk rock band that formed in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk. Along with punk, their music incorporated elements of reggae, ska, dub, funk, rap, dance, androckabilly. For most of their recording career, the Clash consisted of Joe Strummer (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mick Jones (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Simonon (bass guitar, vocals) and Nicky “Topper” Headon (drums, percussion). Headon left the group in 1982, and internal friction led to Jones’s departure the following year. The group continued with new members, but finally disbanded in early 1986. from wikipedia

Fashion week was a blur to say the least, getting to this show to that show, making sure cameras, phones are charged, finding time to eat, and all the while trying to absorb all the audio and visual stimuli brought by the directors, designers, djs, and the great crowd that attended and appreciated the creative process realized as clothes and shows.  Before the pile of pictures soon to come, here are a few quiet moments captured by yours truly.

Hedi Slimane Photography

As amazing as his work as a photographer is, I am sure that many are glad that Hedi Slimane is finally making a comeback to fashion after a twelve year long absence.  He will be returning as as YSL’s creative director, and will be making a very exclusive and secretive debut via his “transitional” women’s cruise and spring menswear collection to be viewed only by buyers and my guess a few fortunate and privileged souls.  This is the guy who practically made slim jeans and trim suits the go to look these days.
