Maison Kitsuné opens it’s doors to the New York City market to find their choice of timelessly detailed clothing, music and other complementary items to complete the francophile experience. I have to say that the store looks pretty big, even for New York standards (like they could fit two Opening Ceremony stores inside, the NYC one mind you, not the massive 8 level store in Tokyo) But then again, it is in Manhattan and in a hotel building. So I suppose that warrants the vast expanse of shopper’s real estate.
Housed in the NoMad hotel in Manhattan, the unique take of Kitsuné on a neighborhood boutique adds a french twist to the current choice of places to shop at around the area. Masaya Kuroki, the co-founder of the brand had a personal hand in designing the space.
One can expect the same timeless detailing on their clothing, conservative choice of styles, and rarely are logos emblazoned across shirts or the like. To the uninitiated, the choices could very well look like something from the Gap or Uniqlo save for the subtleties, choice of fabric, and fit that exude a very stylish kind of French nonchalance. Go here if you want your choice of purchase to last a little longer than a few seasons, as they often serve up staples that will hardly lose their pull. There’s a little bit of a snob appeal to the brand, considering their price points and background in the music business. Kitsuné gives you a youthful in the know kind of exclusivity without the high end mainstream cons that put a lot of people off.
Below is Gildas Loaëc also the co-founder of Kitsuné talking shop.
When you’re in Manhattan, be sure to check out their new store. I can assure you that if you are the least bit interested in clothes and music you will enjoy yourself and maybe feel a strong urge to want to replace your whole wardrobe with theirs. Also, check out a preview of the new mix made especially for their coming to America milestone. A very fitting move for the clothing/music label that has brought us many now headlining acts such as Acid Girls, Alex Gopher, autoKratz, Bloc Party, Boys Noize, Cazals, Chew Lips, Classixx, Crystal Fighters, Cut Copy, Digitalism, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Fischerspooner, Fred Falke, Gigamesh, HeartsRevolution, Hot Chip, Is Tropical, Klaxons, La Roux, Phoenix, Phones, Simian Mobile Disco, The Teenagers, Thieves Like U, Tom Vek, Two Door Cinema Club, VHS or Beta, The Whip, The Whitest Boy Alive, and Yelle just to name a few.
